  • He's such an intelligent man, and it is a joy to hear from him. With music being represented by shallow rappers and hip hop "artists," it is a breath of fresh air to hear from someone like Wynton who doesn't pretend to be something he's not.

  • he speaks really well. not to mention that he plays really good.

  • It appears that the restoration of New Orleans will take a long time. I just hope that its revitalization doesn't take the form that we see on display in Memphis: a Disneyland version of itself that's been repackaged for white tourists.

  • @Danro05 music, like all art forms SHOULD evolve and change. because marsalis is so widely known and influential, his promotion of old styles over new, actually hurts new musicians that try to expand this art. i think he is an asshole for being so closed minded

  • i don't think he believes that "he is jazz" - he ALWAYS gives tribute to the old greats...the problem with him is that he believes that jazz should not evolve from what it was 40 or more years ago. no one that does not play in the style of coltrane (and i mean nothing he did after 65'), parker, miles, armstrong and their ilk are just not valid.

  • @g4thz he speak VERY well, not to mention that he also plays quite WELL... lol im a duce

  • wyntons very talented and a very skilled and capable trumpet player, but....

hes a pretentious bighead who is completely retro-thinking and truly believes that he is jazz. this is the guy that invited himself on the same stage as miles davis and thought he could play with them

  • haha

  • How were you expecting a world renowned musician and author to speak?

  • His is the most famous world renowned trumpet player...!!!

  • He should run for office. Yes. I met Wynton once. He is extremely serious in a way. Maybe better said, his serious side is very intense and very, very smart. He expresses himself so nicely in words. Unflinching. It can be said as a footnote that the waters will rise again. People should not go back as close to it.
