No it was not. It was a performance landing test that went wrong.
And the plane was not subsequently sold; it was retained by McDD and combined with parts from another damaged aircraft to make a new test aircraft (used for the Un Ducted Fan program, amongst others)

It was a hard landing test by the manufacturers. The plane was subsequently repaired (!) and sold to an airline.
