Caspar Wrede's profoundly stark and bleak yet rarely seen adaptation of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's classic novel.
Released in 1970, the film faithfully presents a single day in the life of Ivan Denisovich - superbly portrayed by Tom Courtenay - who is serving a ten year prison sentence in one of Soviet Russia's infamous Siberian gulags.

Why not put it in your boot they wouldn't look there!

@mardescrap YOU NEED TO WISE UP. You're generalizing & you're wrong. Many socialistic nations such as France & England adopted liberal policies that allowed a large Muslim population to evolve. These Muslims burned thousands of cars in a revolt. Now, Europe has detention camps. Koch is the kind of leader needed in the U.S. Germany is no melting pot! Much of CA has become a shithole due to illegals, esp. Los Angeles where illegals are given sanctuary by their idiot mayor. U.S. NEEDS A WALL.

@unclejuniorsoprano
That's dumb.
Every country has this "problem" if you want to call it that way. In France it is even worst.

@themodernwarhol Whether YOU like it or not, we have laws. You may think the law of nature allows you to have sex with a girl the day she starts ovulating (as do Mormons), but under U.S. laws you will go directly to prison with Bubba as your cellmate. Because we fail to enforce our immigration laws does not justify being an ILLEGAL ALIEN anymore than getting away with cheating on taxes or stealing from the office can be justified. THE U.S. NEEDS TO REGAIN ITS SOVEREIGNTY OR IT WILL PERISH.

@unclejuniorsoprano But it was. White people were immigrants to this country while many natives had already been living here. This country was not originally a country of white people, but rather the people IMMIGRATED here and raped and killed the Native Americans and their culture. But now we don't let anybody in. It may be a law to not let immigrants in, but not all laws are just, which is why there is room for improvement and progression. Vicissitude the way of nature and society.

@unclejuniorsoprano But the nation was built on immigrants! And if it was true that corporations were owned by the people or the general population, there wouldn't be Occupy Wallstreet and the rest of the cities being occupied around the U.S.A. and neither would the separation of money be so drastic among the myriads people and the few in power. Communism, although ideally good, has been evil. I rather be called a Socialist. "Democracy passes into despotism" - Plato

@themodernwarhol Why don't you just admit it; you are a communist. It's not corporations I worry about as much as I do the government. Corporations are owned by people; stockholders. Government is owned by political machines. We can't vote democRATs out of office in CA because the districts are stacked against the voters. Dems want to legalize the illegal Mex because they will all vote DemocRAT. We are losing our rights & our sovereignty. No border = No nation PERIOD.
