Thomas Jefferson and Oscar Wilde did NOT disagree about patriotism. Patriotism is no virture:
The pledge of allegience is a loyalty oath. It used to be said with an outstretched hand like for Heil Hitler. Jefferson said "The tree of liberty is nourished by the blood of revolutionaries. No citizen of a democratic country should ever pledge unswerving loyalty to any government or flag."
