  • the version in add/remove is not the newest in the repositories. So this way will give you the newest version now & the newest version in the future.

  • @ELDAVID215 Even though I posted that comment over a year ago, I'm still going to reply. I'd have to say that while, yes, Linux does promote learning and knowledge, I believe it is much healthier for it to be user friendly in order to become more widely used and seriously considered as a viable alternative to other, proprietary OS.

  • @MrGreencastle it might be because linux also promotes knowledge... so if you do it this way you'll have a clue on how to install other apps, those that aren't easy to find in add/remove or ubuntu software center

  • It might be easier for users to go:

    Applications >> Add/Remove... >> and then search Banshee, check and apply.

    Any particular reason why you used this method?
