Many home Wi-Fi's have little or no protection and computer hackers trolling for victims can easily break in.

FOX 5's Sherri Ly with wireless researcher Rick Farina went into some local neighborhoods and it didn't take long to find people who left their computers wide open.

  • credit cards, passwords etc... are all safe regardless of whether someone can listen in on your internet traffic. Web browsers use ssl to encrypt everything between you and your bank or company.

If the attacker is really evil they could try to replace your banking website with their own evil copy that steals your password... but that's phishing and most users know to look for the little green bar that says they're connected to the real website.

  • use cabled network adapters dont even use wireless stuff.
