We offer a variety of different tours at Big Cat Rescue, from regular guided tours of the sanctuary to feeding tours where you get to watch the big cats chomping down on their dinner up close! We also offer night tours where you are guided around Big Cat Rescue with the aid of a flashlight, when the cats are at the most active for a totally different experience!
Our Big Cat Keeper Tour is our most popular and offers guests an exclusive behind the scenes experience found nowhere else in the world, that is respectful to the animals and safe for the guests. The experience is divided into two parts:
Enrichment (making toys and treats for the cats and watch as a keeper hands out what you've made) and Operant Conditioning featured in this video, which is a training session between the cats and a keeper.
Operant conditioning is a positive reinforcement training method we use to observe the animals up close in case any medical treatment is required and also to move our cats into seperate parts of their enclosure when maintenance is scheduled. This is completed with minimum stress on the animal.

Ok, I have two questions. Does the small cats and the big cats get along pretty well? And what is the difference between a serval and sand cat between a normal house cat?
TheCrf150freerider 10 months ago
@TheCrf150freerider The domestic cats don't go near the enclosures, the big cats do like to stalk them from time to time :) Servals and sand cats are wild, they hiss, spit, spray and generally do not want to be near people

Is Jack Jack still there? I didn't see him when I was there for my interview. Also, can't wait to be an intern this summer! =D
