  • I really love the Selmer sound... That'd fit much better when playing in a bigband, and that is the main place to find these sax sections.

They leave some room for the other horn sections and the rythm section, the p. mauriats just fill it all up.

On the other hand, that p. mauriat sound would be really nice for some sax solos.

    Thank you for your posting.

Lot's of saxophonists would agree with you

  • This is fun! I noticed that the selmer section sounded smoother while the P.Mauriat section were "beefier".

Yes, right. Selmers part sounds poorer. P. Mauriat's part is more luxury in my opinion

  • WhAt's the song name?

  • @robertzzzzz yes, quite right.

  • Yep the Mauriats are much more fat and allow you much more nuances...

  • @rnordling

This is sweet! I think it sounds like they're using more air support on the P. Mauriat time through? Ya never know, could be the recording. I prefer the selmer sound, I think it blends better, but the P. Mauriat is fatter. They used less vibrato on the selmer run through. Selmer sounds more vintage, the P. Mauriat sounds more contemporary.
