ESPN Perfiles: Cubillas, Uno de los Mejores Jugadores en la Historia del Futbol(Parte1)

Teófilo Juan Cubillas Arizaga, nacido en Puente Piedra, Lima, el 8 de marzo de 1949, es un ex futbolista peruano, apodado el "Nene". Es considerado uno de los mejores futbolistas sudamericanos de la historia.
El "Nene" Cubillas fue el conductor y goleador de la Selección Peruana que ganó la Copa América 1975 y que llegó a cuartos de final en los mundiales de México '70 y Argentina '78. Fue un mediocampista ofensivo dotado de una técnica exquisita, potencia, cambio de ritmo, habilidad para el regate y una gran capacidad goleadora. Sus tiros libres de media y larga distancia fueron famosos por la precisión con que los ejecutaba. En el campo de juego, se destacó también por su deportividad: nunca fue expulsado.
Cubillas ha sido galardonado como Futbolista sudamericano del año en 1972 y fue nombrado el mejor futbolista peruano del siglo XX por IFFHS.[1] Integra la lista de los 50 Mejores Jugadores del Siglo XX elaborado por expertos e historiadores de FIFA y publicados por IFFHS en el 2004, ese mismo año fue nombrado en la lista FIFA 100, elaborada por Pelé. El "Nene" Cubillas es el octavo goleador en la historia de la Copa Mundial de Fútbol. Es también el mejor goleador de todos los mediocampistas de los mundiales, superando en goles y en promedio a genios como Maradona, Cruyff, Zico, Zidane y Platiní. Es además el Máximo goleador en la historia de la Selección Peruana.

He came from N-Ireland, to difficult for almost any player to succeed. That's not his fault.

Just look at his flair, quality, balance, impact, technique, dribbling etc.

Teofilo, a Peruvian fine soccer player, used to kick the ball with fine precision and execute the free ball shots toward the porter with both feet. A fine gentleman and an icon for the young soccer players. I used to watch him when training at COPSA soccer field in Callao, Peru when He played for Alianza Lima. And, It was very impressive, the Alianza front players as: Perico Leon, Julio Baylon, Babalu Martinez, Pitin Zegarra, and of course Teofilo Cubillas.

Zico: 800 plus goals, one of the best passers and free-kick experts ever graced the pitch. He went to Udinese scored 24 goals plus 19 assists.

Barca: '00-'0'1; 4th, '01-'02; 4 th, '02-'03; 6 th. Then Dinho came: 2 La Liga's, 2 Cups and The CL.

2 times World PLayer ofthe Year.

Baggio: was pure class and a level above Cubillas. In '93 World Player of the Year

@totaalvoetbal of course 50 all-time is representative. But 20 all-time is more accuarate. V. Basten, Charlton (I have no idea), G. Best, Romario, and Baresi are not better than Cubillas. Zico was no better than Cubillas. Ronaldinho was not better than Cubillas. I think you never saw him play, honestly. Baggio had a great career, but not a better player than Cubillas. Oh well, it's subjective in the end and dificult to say, but no way half those players were the footballers Cubillas was
