Higher reolution video at www (dot)vimeo (dot) com/458041. As I feared, YouTubes compression really ruins the effect.

Here is a scene from the BBC programe Doctor Who that has been processed in two different ways to show a 3D image. The first way requires the use of RED/BKUE 3D glasses, the second way requires you to cross your eyes a certain way, no I am not joking. I am afraid that You Tubes compression will probably ruin most of the effect but its worth a try. Let me know if it works for you.

  • If you'll type the following in your tags, we will be able to use YouTube's 3-D viewer and select our own preferred method of viewing (parallel, cross-eyed, anaglyph, etc.). Since parallel free-viewing is so much more natural (like looking into a mirror, beyond the surface of the glass), that should be made available too. Here's what to type to show the 3-D viewer: yt3d:enable=true yt3d:swap=true. Then you can set your aspect ration with: yt3d:aspect=3:4 (using 3:4 as an example).

  • Wow, that nice. Thanks for the heads up. I did try the tag on this and the other video, it works ok once the 3D is present but is very confused about the opening 2D text. I'll leave these videos as they are and use the new TAG on future 3D videos

  • This is really awesome! I can't get the hang of the crossing your eyes one though, is it like a magic eye? Because I am really good at those, I just can't do this one, but I love Doctor Who so much I am going to keep on trying!!!!!!!

  • Try going to HQ mode, expand the screen to full size, pause the video at the 0:55 mark, sit back relax, slowly begin crossing your eyes, The two text sides will begin to merge in the middle overlayed on one another. You should see at that point the 3D text jump out at you. Then without taking your eyes off the screen unpause the video and keep you eyes fixed.

After a few ties you won;t need to do any of the above you can just get it to work at will. Good luck

  • Damn, the red and blue is backwards, For this video on youtube you need red on the right side, a corrected version (red on left side) is posted at vimeo dot com slash 458041 Enjoy!! Oh yeah the audio is in stereo at Vimeo
