Shigeko Sasamori - surviving an atomic bomb

At age 13 Shigeko barely survived the Hiroshima atomic bomb. She was later one of the "Hiroshima Maidens" who came to the U.S. for plastic surgery. She was adopted by Norman Cousins and stayed in the Los Angeles area where she worked for many years as a nurse. Shigeko is a very inspiring and positive person who has overcome great adversity; she works extensively for nuclear disarmament and peace.
