This amoeba selects three of a group of five bacteria, but ends up engulfing them all because they are rather close together. One of the newly "eaten" motile bacteria starts to move and this causes the vacuole to rotate.

  • Why do they spin like that?

  • @HolidayHipHop The bacteria are motile (they have flagella) and continue to swim after they are inside the vacuole in the amoeba. They have nowehre to go -- just around and around inside a very small space. This doesn't go on for very long because they are soon digested. OR not. Some tough ones may survive and be ejected.
