This video lesson on how to play the main riff in THRICE's "Blood Clots and Black Holes"
If you thought this was too easy, try playing my lesson on The Human Abstract here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKtAXbOAxBk

This riff is intermediate difficulty but can be mastered easily with practice. The song (along with the rest of the album) is played in drop C tuning.

  • dude you played this great, but you should look into doing a great Thrice song. (not that this isn't great because they all are) Deadbolt maybe......?

  • @noleafcloverMIke yea I know what you mean, it's not exactly one of the thrice "hits" haha. Deadbolt is one of my favorites too, I might do that one soon. Its on my list!

  • i like the way u teach, u make it very easy to learn

  • @666godhatesusallAAA thanks amigo! I'll be posting a lot more stuff soon! I have a lot of sick music to get through =p

  • I do know how the song goes but to start off the video you should have played the whole riff first in real time, just to get a better idea. My opinion. cool lesson though.

  • @seven7years hey I did play it in real time! That's the first thing that I put in there right after my intro! you owe me a dollar now =p

I appreciate the feedback though, I'll be sure to play things out throughout the videos for people to see

  • @abriefsilence well I only mention it because it is a great way to learn that really fast tempo type of song. But on the grand scale of things, good choice

  • Great work man. Looking forward to more. Keep it up

  • nice job man, cool vids! subscribed!

  • @abriefsilence holy crap! damn it. i feel like an idiot lol I did skip ahead, my fault. it was early! i need my dollar.

  • @abriefsilence I play on a Fender Jaguar (I know, not the greatest guitar for this kind of music :P) and the 2009 version is known for its fretbuzz while it's in E standard. When I tune it to D Standard, most of the fretbuzz is gone but when I tune it down to drop C, I can hear it again. I will buy some 12 gauge strings, hope it'll work for me.
