As a way to express the beauty of these beautifully hand-crafted necklaces made out of paper by the Women of Northern Uganda, the African Cultural Society at the College of William and Mary orchestrated a photo shoot to showcase them. Paper to Pearls is an initiative of Voices for Global Change which is a nonprofit organization that gives a voice to marginalized people around the world. Check out their website at www.vfgc.org. These necklaces make great gifts and more importantly, they are helping build families and communities because they are encouraging and supporting women.
