It is a method of focusing attention upon the guitar-driven melody. Popular music is actually the genre most followed by sheep, because it employs cyclic rhythms that compliment a maximum of one to two vocal melodies per song (usually a verse and chorus). This is done in order that simple people will remember the words, which are easier to remember than complex instrumental melodies, and want to buy the album or song. Metal is like classical music, it uses narrative melodic motifs.
