I'm a veteran of the Iraq war. I'm 28, with a daughter. I'm not with her mother. It was just two soldiers, overseas, and mistakes were made - we're human. Neither of us thought a child should pay the price, so we both raise her, apart. I lost my faith over there - and many without it found it. Funny how that works. No matter how angry I am, no matter how...hurt...I am for what I saw - I found this song and I slumped in my chair and began to cry unmanly tears. I can't do this. I need you, God.

I have always loved this song! I remember when I was little I would listen to the Big Songs version of this and pray that my best friends would love Jesus like I did... now 2 of them do, and I'm still praying for the 3rd. And will for as long as I need to until she runs to Him and falls in love with Him.

Remember, that God loves you no matter what. He loves you unconditionally. I admire you man, for saying this, and for your tears. Jesus cried tears, and he called upon God. He hears your spoken and unspoken prayers, he feels your pain. He is with you. It took me many bitter years from things that have happened to me, to be able to say these kinds of things- and to live them. But now I KNOW. So, I speak these things with love- from one person to another.

This is one of my favorite songs from Jars of Clay. This is my daily prayer, that I love Christ Jesus with all my heart, mind, and soul. With everything I am, yearning to be filled with HIS perfect love in as much that 'my cup overflows'. Because when we agape love HIM, we will be obedient out of our love for HIM. And in obedience, be a blessing to others for the rest of our days here on this training ground called Earth.

Listening to this song, and remembering how it was to just love God for who He was. I'm a medical student now, and I feel that my spirituality has died someplace (ironic for studying in a religious medical school). Searching, hoping, and praying for the time when I can find Him again in the life I know now.
