This is THE definitive video on sorting Lego pieces. With a collection properly sorted and stored, the time formerly spent searching for components can be used to create. Lego toys become a medium for artistic engineering. Hey, all you grown-ups out there ashamed of your secret plastic bin, build proudly!

  • Thank you so much this will really help me. But I have a quistion 1st I have 3 30qt bins what is your estimate of peices I have so I can decide the way to sort and 2nd would it take longer to sort into color then into piece?

  • @Legodude1210 I would guess you have a little less than 40,000 parts. If you separate into color first it will be like camouflaging them. I don't think you have enough to sort by color yet.

  • it's honestly the best way to do it, but remember, most people need space, for the cabinets? and is not easy finding a big drawer were you have enough space for the amount of pieces, and the different types of pieces, I wouldnt mind doing hat myself, but I can't find a big enough drawer... sorry ifor my grammar, I just woke up, and I'm tired :/

  • @TheCustomBrick You can always pull down the sweet Tron movie poster and hang small parts drawers there. People with larger collections can still use the smaller drawers for specialty pieces and use larger bins (like sterelite ones at walmart) for common bricks and plates. Really, how many 1x1 horizontal clips do you have?

  • This is easy to do, its just that were lazy.

  • @Th3LetterH seems to me the lazy thing to do would be to organize. Much more time building, much less time looking for pieces...

  • I already have my bricks sorted by color and system (i.e. System and Technic). I've also already sorted out those odd bits; Bionicle, those large molded pieces, etc.

Now I'm sorting the color bins into general types, like he's doing towards the middle, into different size Ziolocs.

  • wheres the sound of his vocice

  • i have alot of lego sooo yea its gonna be a long time for me

  • @iwantagoodnameplease

There is never a shortage of ideas! People who store this way can simply find the components as they need them. Besides, there is always a junk pile ready for sorting, or ready to be picked through for that inspiring , "aha" piece.
