@zetsushoren Hehe. My first reaction to that song (which was my first reaction to this band, since I hadn't heard of them before then) WAS exactly "Can this be?!!". It felt like a mix of Shadow Gallery, Seventh Wonder and Mastodon with a ton of spices. Still, awesome song...and now I'm a proud owner of ALL of their albums on limited edition vinyl. :D

@zetsushoren Doom metal is generally blended with other genres of metal as well. Loads of bands consider themselves doom but have black metal, death metal, or even power metal influences mixed in as well. Doom is one of the best genres to blend with other ones. Don't try and force too intricate a label on it. ;]

@zetsushoren Doom metal isnt like Death and Black, even though some doom metal uses growl. Doom metal is ment to inspire a feeling of sadness and the impending doom, or the doom of yourself.
