No, a "several generations wild horse," meaning one descended from a domestic horse, is what a feral horse is.

@animallovergirl10 Hey what about dogs? They were wolves until man tamed them which they became domestic animal. Some people train dogs to fight and beat them too.*cough*...... Horses are companion domestic animals as cats and dogs are. Even PETA knows that! There are more than 300 breed of equines from around the globe and there's only one that is a feral breed which is the mustang... *sigh* ...city people...

HORSES NEED TO BE FREE! horses need 2 be free, not one of those horses that are chained to poles and walk around in circles all day. Not one of those horses that starving or i getting beaten to death. Horses weren't meant for being taken from their meadows. They were meant to run free with their families. STOP TAKING THESE PRECIOUS CREATURES!!!!!!!

Ah, I did misphrase that, si, horses born in the wild are adapt and often turn out well in the wild. It has been a few hundred years and many horses released or self-freed from being brought to America have developed enough fertility to be a wild animal again. But there is a difference between recently feral and several generations wild horse.

All species are not 'entirely' native. New species and breeds form from the expanding or even accidental placement of one. It's not unnatural for a new animal to be introduced a place and for that land to adapt to accept the new animal. On one hand, no horses are wild in their genes but a select few breeds. On the other, horses born and raised in the wild are wild horses.
@horsesrocks12345
None of those horses are actually wild. They are escaped domestic horses which have gone feral, and they still have the genes of domesticated horses. Feral domestic horses (like Mustangs, Brumbies, etc.) are often called wild, but this is a misnomer. They often cause damage to native species when they are introduced into new environments, which is why their numbers need to be controlled. The only truly wild horses are the Przewalski's horses of Mongolia.

@FallenTemptation
No- a wild animal is an animal which is genetically not domesticated. Feral animals are not wild since they are genetically domestic- that is why we have a special term for them. A feral cat or stray dog is not a "wild animal," nor is a feral horse.
