Carusio's hike to the Ice Caves at Big Four Mountain which is a mountain in the Cascade Range of Washington, located 33.4 kilometres (20.8 mi) east of Granite Falls. The mountain is about 6,135 ft (1,870 m) high and on its north flank, debris piles form from avalanches and are able to remain there year round because of the continuous shade provided by the mountain. During the summer, snow-melt streams flow beneath the debris piles and cause caves to be formed in the ice. A woman died after the caves collapsed on her in 1998.

  • Unfortunately the ice caves are extremely dangerous. They are unstable and recently a young girl was killed when a chunk of the ice broke loose and hit her in the head. She and her family were not even in the cave but standing just outside.
