Company execs didn't like "raised on the book of Jesus" so Nyro had to replace her version with new lyrics. The woman could write hit songs and she is going into the Hall of Fame this year.

I prefer Laura Nyro's version but I can see why this was a hit. It's the first time I've heard this version and it's not just a straight copy of the original.

This song reminds me so much of how cool the early moinths of 1971 was, Reminds me of the Sylmar earthquake that I've experienced and even that was fun, Believe it or not.
