@TGMF83 Pharmacists have no idea about all the nuances of the past medical history of a patient. When I write for a medication, there is a reason I didn't write for another one. I welcome pharmacists' opinions, but mine is the only one that matters when my pen hits the prescription pad.

@SRNF Pharmacists are also schmoozed by drug companies. It's not that pharmacists know more than doctors, it's just that they often are more in touch with newer drugs on the market, whereas doctors, especially family ones, tend to lag a little behind and learn to rely on what they already know. It's important for a doctor to stay current but that's seldom the case.

@TGMF83 Actually, pharmacists usually know more about pills, effects, interactions and application of the medication.
Family doctors deal with diagnostic analysis, checkups and other fields of health sciences.
Also doctors are *SPONSORED* by many of the pill companies which is a huge problem in this world. They are very biased towards certain meds because of this.
Anyone who goes to med school will tell you this starts from even there. Pill companies offer free lunches, items, samples, etc

@TGMF83 and more doctors prescribe because some drug rep ( lobbyist) told them to. only problem is the pharm in this scene never looks what other drugs the patient is on, which may have influenced the doctor. however it's still great and hilarious, as in life. but as many whack job doctors are out there, there are just as many brainless pharmacists (as a guy with both in my family). the good thing about pharmacists is that they often catch certain interactions and other mistakes doctors make.

Doctors are always getting on their high horse about this shit. It is perfectly acceptable for a pharmacist to offer his opinion. Pharmacist's don't just count pills, they know medicine as much as any doctor.
