Two determined students at a West Coast University, Arian and Ernest, follow the inspiration of their idealistic professor, Dr. Malley, and attempt to do something important with their lives. But when the two make the bold decision to join the battle in Afghanistan, Malley is both moved and distraught. Now, as Arian and Ernest fight for survival in the field, they become the string that binds together two disparate stories on opposite sides of America. In California, an anguished Dr. Malley attempts to reach a privileged but disaffected student, who is the very opposite of Arian and Ernest. Meanwhile, in Washington D.C. the charismatic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving, is about to give a bombshell story to a probing TV journalist that may affect Arian and Ernest's fates. As arguments, memories and bullets fly, the three stories are woven ever more tightly together, revealing how each of these Americans has a profound impact on each other--and the world.

Saw it yesterday and was impressed. Don't believe the reviews. This is not the "two star" or "C+" movie the media wants you to think it is. It's well worth seeing. Spread the word!
It is too bad most people don't recognize the edge we are looking over. A social war as well as an economic war. Still until it actually touches a person in some way it is not real. As long as people can avoid having to face the reality that as a nation we have been hated for longer than just this Iraq war we will continue to debate and divide ourselves instead of uniting as a strong front to face our enemies.
i completely agree with you, war is senseless & tragic. but that is NOT what this movie is trying to promote. this film makes the people who are too apathetic to help others look like idiots, not the ones who want less violence. there's many ways to "serve your country" without having to join the military and go to war, like joining the peace corps (stated in this scene) or simply doing more community service in the U.S. or abroad.
We should, yes. But how about those who don't want to stop killing others those who want to kill us, how do one deal with them (iran and others)do we leave them alone to make their nukes so they can kill us? Shall we "talk" with them over tea, or what?
