Rigoletto is not about bravoura, but about fatal destiny. The pistol falls and kills and nothing can be done to prevent drama from happening. This pianist exactly follows this, in playing beyond "normal" Liszt fireworks. It's both contemplative and emotional, Superb...

Only when you listen to Liszt and also know the story of this opera itself, one is capable of undestanding why this rendering is superb. Rigoletto is about fatal destiny, right from the beginning when the pistol falls and kills. The major caracters are not just bravoura! This performance recognises this in full...
