    Interesting! I may have to see if I can get Phantasmagoria to work outside of DOSbox and see if the music sounds any better.

    Exactly. MIDI just lists what instrument plays what note, at what volume etc. Each soundcard has its own "sound font" describing exactly what the different instruments sound like. So, DOSbox will sound slightly different from any given sound card, and most sound cards will sound slightly different from each other.

    It is all midi I believe, but the music did sound better when I played the game without DOSbox. Don't know if that's always the case.

    It sounds different depending on your sound card, and whether or not you use DosBox and stuff like that.

    The music sounds so different in YouTube form than it does on the CD.
