jeff wa so thin in season 1..i guess he was a starving artist.....by s4 the money started rolling in and so did the food cause he started to put on weight.

If I had to guess, I'd say they were a clumsy attempt to make it look like she WAS showing - which she should have been at this point. She should be about four months at this point, and from what I understand, shorter and thinner women tend to show around that time. However, Kathleen Bellar obviously WASN'T pregnant, so they needed to make it look like she was.
