Analiesa Joyce had heart problems since she was four years old. She was 29 when she received an LVAD. "I didn't know about the LVAD until a day or two before I had it," remembers Joyce. "I met a few patients who had it who were a lot older than me, so I knew if they could do it, I should be able to do it."

Analiesa's LVAD got her healthy enough to be eligible for a transplant, which she eventually got. "I wasn't done yet," said Joyce. "I wasn't done living."

"I always had great trust in the med center," said Joyce. "I wouldn't go to another hospital now if I needed to.
