-

@RudySunseeker When it comes to the spinto&dramatic roles i do prefer tenors like MDM Corelli Zenatello Martinelli Merli Fillipeschi&Volpi. When you speak of instantly finding the middle of the note,I think Del Monaco achieves this most of the time as he does not use a lot of portamento&scooping unless of course when he is attempting to use mezza voce or piano which does make it more difficult for at least MDM to do.I must admit ,Del Monaco does hold the Huge B-flat longer than he should.

@RudySunseeker Rudy,I introduced the mezza voce comment stating that the notes were not false as you had indicated, but rather, that was Del Monaco's mezza voce&piano.Ido not see a problem with Del Monaco's singing.Del Monaco perhaps brought a new dimension to the world of opera finding a niche for himself in the spinto & dramatic repertoire with his sometimes over the top interpretations&volume never before seen.I also like beautiful voices like Di Stefano Gigli Cortis Tagliavini. @sugarbist 1) You introduce the "mezza voce excuse" for MDM´s sloppy singing. 2) I present my real problems with MDM´s singing, at the same time trying to make you aware I know about mezza voce. 3) You say I prefer mezza voce singers but Gigli and Tagliavini were not Carmen specialists.
Truth is I love singers with beautiful voices, who instantly finds the middle of the note.
Greetings! Truth is I love a singer with a beautiful voice, who instantly finds the middle of the note.

@RudySunseeker Dear Rudy. We obviously don't agree. Del Monaco is a dramatic tenor with A clean bronze like steely sound.I do understand your preferenence for mezza voce with Gigli &Tagliavini.but again they are lyric style tenors& even though they were both great, Carmen was not a signature role for either of them as it was for Del Monaco much to your dissaproval.Even though we do not agree I do appreciate your point of view.Thank You

Byorling was SUPERIOR to all the tenors who followed him. The superb phrasing and
vocal placement is remarkably beautiful and will always be remembered. There is
NO one on any operatic stage today who can ever come close to what he represented, the Art of Bel Canto

Bjorling is a great master of song!
There is no need to make comparaison. I enjoy Franco Corelli as much as I enjoy Bjorling!!
Thank god for them both!
