good song;reminds me of something i saw in a british comedy called "only fools and horses",,,well i remember a moment when the grandad was talking in it and he said that the government in war (in his words)"they promised homes fit for heroes,,,but all they made was heroes fit for homes",,,,nothing much changes and patriotism is still exploited by the elite..
They have a vetran association and how they whistlelblow. Anybodody who has a heart should go there. my experience with those who fought in the battlefield was that they were^^^^^^^^^^ that's why they take drugs or suffer from aids. In Turkey I saw their westpoint rings sold to buy drugs.
Wheres since 1915 we have had our righ to sue taken from us. since then, at least in Canada, more rights were taken such as medical and legal. But you can appeal they say. Herein lies the Devil. They will always find an excuse to appeal. No benefits for disabling injures means a life of pain, poverty, and stress. These soldiers fight a greater injustice at home than they did on the battlefield.
The working men and soldiers of North America have been lied too, cheated, roobed, slandered, abused physically, tormented mentally, all because of a workers compensation program started in 1915 in Canada and the U.S. We were fed a bill of good that promised us wage loss and medical care for injuries received on the job or in the military. Unfortunately in all States and Provinces neithewr injured civilians nor injured soldiers are getting these guaranteed benefits.
I am crying now. Because I know what those Veterans experience. Coming home with severe chronic pain from injuries (oh it's all in his head they say), post concussion syndrome from mild traumatic brain injuries that affect mood and behaviour (can't deal emotionally with demands of litigation for benefits), undue hardship and cruel and unusual treatment causing stress, pain, poverty, and eventual suicide. It happens to all of us who can no longer function mentally, emotionally, and or physically.
Very nice piece of folk acoustic Dave......Did you use low gauge bass strings on your guitar and use Drop A Tuning? Sounds like the "Nashville Tunning". I like it a lot...Thank you for posting this...I write music too and play the guitar and piano.
I managed to sidestep the offer of the queens shilling when I was a kid because I wanted to be an artist. But I can understand how these men, and women, were seduced; there is great honor in fighting for a worthy cause. But there lies the rub.... "worthy cause". As far as i can see, the only army that has any honor, and is worth fighting for is Hezbollah.
It is so sad that some of our vets have ben forgoten the goverment should help vets but i don't think Obama has a heart.
