Get the new Chris Brooks album from http://www.chrisbrooks.com
Just a quick video with my first play through the Port City OS212 cab, which I was able to get with the support of Daniel at Port City. You can hear why PC is all the buzz with working musos and celebrity players alike. This thing is as smooth as Caramel Ice Cream even with the Recto head which is next on the "go" list as I build my new rig piece by piece. If your amp is not sounding the way it should, talk at Daniel via http://portcityamps.com. You'll be very glad you did!

I'll record a proper demo as soon as I locate my SM57s!

Signal chain: Suhr CB Custom Standard..Suhr Koko Boost.. BB preamp.. Mesa DR solo head.. Port City OS212 loaded with Cannabis Rex

  • Chris ,I was wondering if I changed speakers in my 212 Recto Cab for the same speakers as you have in your Port City if it would make the cab less harsh sounding. Is it also the recto cab construction that make the sound so distinct.

  • @expressyourselfist Rather than the patriot series which might round things off too much for you, maybe take a look at the Governors for something a little less shrill than the V30s but I personally found the Crexes a little muddy for my Mesa, yet utterly perfect for the Suhr Badger I used now.

  • I really like the sound of those speakers!!.. (and of course the OS 212 cab). Can't wait to hear the demo with the SM57s! Depending on that demo I'll just might have to give Daniel a call when I get the money for this thing. Great playing as well, sir.

  • @jamesteek03 Thanks! Will do 57 mic up when I can. And tell Daniel I sent you so he knows I'm spruiking! :)

  • Sounding ferocious Chris, especially the finishing few passages. Awesome.

  • @phatfieldguitar Thanks Paul!

  • Awesome playing Chris (I watch your you tube kryptica performance on my ipod all the time) --I have been playing a Single Recto with a Port City OS212 and it is a dream tone--Cannanis Rex speakers are def cool, super stellar guitarist!!

  • I dont' know what scale you're playing in, but I have always loved the way those notes sound together. I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but it kind of sounds simular to the group of notes used in Autograph's "Turn Up The Radio" guitar solo; except your guitar solo sounds MUCH better!!!

  • Great video Chris!Super tone!I may receive my Pearl with the OS212 cab today! Can't wait!

  • I love these things with EVM-12Ls in them.

  • your legato runs are sooooo nice i am extremely jealous, keep up the good work

  • Very smooth top end, rounded and still defined without that brittle edge the V30's have. Might be just the thing for a few ideas I have floating around vis a vis a new guitar.

    Very nice Chris :)

  • Sounds fantastic, and of course your the man ! great relaxed playing ...the combination of both just seem to click ! Looking forward to a few good You Tubes in the future with these sounds ... all the best & regards gus

  • MORE DISTORTION!!! sounds amazing tho, you get more of a liquid sound with the higher notes & sweeps, which is key for those kinds of solos, awesome cab!!
