3D Facial Animation

Hey, this is a video showing a few of the many fantastic facial expressions my new character can make. Everything you see on this video was done by me, the modelling, rigging, texturing, rendering and animation. The rendering is at a low production quality because i wanted the video to be made quickly.

Anyway, this is a blendshape based facial setup, follow my [Podcast 001: Creating Blendshapes] to learn how to create brilliant facial animation using blendshapes.

Im interesting in being animator... Where do i start? What program is best for beginners? Help plz.

@willis15092 You start by purchasing Autodesk Maya, Autodesk maya is the most advanced software for 3D animation, although there are great alternatives such as 3D's Max, Autodesk Maya has been my faviourate since... forever!

You then need to learn how to use the software, my tutorials are for YOU!

DO U NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SKETCH, OR DRAW TO BECOME ANIMATOR?

@willis15092 no mate if your animating the models and rigs are pre made for you, if you want to be a modeller then yes you should be able to sketch but as an animator it isnt compulsary.

I use Lightwave 10 and I love the program. It does just as much as Maya and doesn't cost nearly as much. Maya is about 6000 and lightwave is roughly 600

looks great but my bullshit tingles go off on the transition between facial poses..... ^_^
