The subtlety of this scene is truly amazing. The protagonist is lonely but has to keep up his tough machismo exterior. He feigns being annoyed but at no time does he push the antagonist off of him. If you look closely a band-aid on the protagonist's arm can be seen. Perhaps a symbol that he is broken. And I appreciate that the director didn't ram the point down your throat, choosing to put the band-aid on his arm, as opposed to directly over his heart. Flawless.
