  • Vega ... my hero...beautiful player....his work with JT says it all.

  • @malcolmdrums actually, although very awesome in its own right, his work with James shows very little of how beautiful of a player he was. The last time I ever spent time with my uncle was a couple months before he died. He had a jam room at the very far end of his house and him and David Garfield were jamming. Enough said right? No, after they tore it up, he got up and plugged in his bass and told me to get behind the kit. I swear, they played so well, the drums played themselves...

  • @frekylingus cont...That was the last time I hung out with my uncle and needless to say it was truly memorable. Something I wish I could have video taped and showed here...then there'd be no question of whether he should be in conversations with names like Colaiuta, Gadd, Porcaro, etc.

  • One of the greatest drummer of all time and definitely one of the grooviest, in-the-pocket drummersof the last thirty years , along with the likes of Jeff POrcaro and Steve Gadd . Carlos is still sorely missed, eleven years after his tragic death !!

  • First heard Carlos' playing on a Lee Ritenour CD. And then I heard him with James Taylor. What a superb drummer!

  • Great Carlos Vega!!!!

  • Gone really too soon. I cried, that day. Love.

  • Great drummer Carlos Vega.

Famous solo this one in "Oasis". It was trancribed in the "Modern Drummer" magazine.

    R. I. P. maestro Carlos.

Thank you very much frekylingus for your post.

  • One of the finest drummers to grace this planet. A huge hero of mine even 14 years after his demise.

  • No matter how you look at it....it is a heart breaker this man is not here today...I do not know the circumstances of his death. But, the fact this young vibrant talented man is not here today continues to haunt his fans and all of us in music today.

  • Avid Fan.........1984 was a very good year! Was the 1st time that I finally caught L. Rit live in Indy backed up with up and coming inspiring talented heavy weights like Phil Perry and Carlos Vega . The house was smoking! Carlos could lay down that Bad Ass Beat ... I Repeat ! He was so smooth and passionate laying down that groove.
