Sword of the Stars - Grand Menace - Locust Hiveworld

*** If you have yet to encounter the Locust's in game, I would advise against watching this video as it will spoil the moment that you meet them in game ***

A battle between the Tarka and a Locust Hiveworld.

While playing as the Hivers against a Tarka AI, I noticed a strange spikey ball appear in the strategy view, so I switched sides and recorded the fight between the planet and hive world.

The Tarka ships were quite low down on the tech tree and were prompty annihilated.

The time appears to only go at half speed, this is because my computer could only handle 15fps due to the immense amount of Locust ships in this encounter.

The music i've used for the battle is track 14 "They Come In Waves And We Push Them Back" from the dawn of war 2 soundtrack.

After meeting these guys in-game, I modded Grand Menace chances of appearing to zero. They out-right ruined a game I had spent 200 turns on. Fuck grand menaces. Smashing through 30 cruisers and 6 dreadnoughts without taking any damage on the mothership itself... is absurd. And yes, my techs were up to date and I had PD.

It's much worse than that, Avitus. The Locusts are said to have existed before the very evolution of mankind. Until we explore the galaxy, we have no way of knowing how many more are out there.

The awesome thing is that just imagine, somewhere out there in the universe right now in real life, there may very well be a thing like this. Makes sense, a big glob of AI drones, each capable of detaching and seeking out individual targets, in the hundreds of thousands.

I finished constuction of a DN on a small planet the turn after a Peacekeeper arrived on my first game. I had also foolishly rushed for DNs and they were poorly armed and was annihalated.
