Winton Children Retrace Their Steps to Safety

Unveiling a monument to a man who saved hundreds of Czechoslovakian children from the Nazi Holocaust.

At Prague's main station, surviving members of 'Winton's children' gathered to pay tribute to former British diplomat, Nicholas Winton.

[Tom Growman, Denver, Colorado]: ''I didn't know of Nicholas Winton till many years later. I am very grateful to Nicholas Winton because I am alive today.''

Now in their seventies and eighties, they're retracing the rail journey across Europe, which took them to safety a lifetime ago.

[Hanna Franklova, Winston Kids]: ''He was our saviour. It took great heroism to deal with all of this, and deal with the Germans.''

This is Nicholas Winton today - he celebrated his 100th birthday earlier this year.

In the months preceding the outbreak of World War II, Winton, then a young diplomat, worked tirelessly to rescue as many children as he could following the partition of Czechoslovakia.

Hundreds of mainly Jewish children were put aboard trains - like this one - and brought to London, where they were placed with British families.

More than six-hundred were saved before the German invasion of Poland on September 1st sealed the fate of Europe's Jews.

These survivors and their families will have a chance to thank the man who saved their lives - Winton will welcome the train when it arrives at London's Liverpool Street Station on Friday.

How dare those Germans desire a homeland! The only people who deserve a homeland are the Jews and it doesn't matter how many of those Palestinians have to be murdered in the process or how many Americans have to die fighting Israel's wars or how deeply it puts Americans in debt even though they were manipulated into fighting the Germans in WWII....they are still on the hook because of White guilt! I only hope Israel can find another sucker nation to suck the lifeblood out of after the US dies.
