In 1998 the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on drugs was held in New York under a new slogan: A drug-free world, we can do it! Member states committed themselves to significantly reduce the demand and supply of illegal drugs in 10 years.
On March 11-12, 2009, representatives of national governments will meet in Vienna to evaluate the achievements of the past 10 years and determine international drug policy for the next decade.
The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union has collected the voices of drug users, scientists and activist from all around the globe. They are sending their messages to the participants at the meeting.

@KripDrip are you absofuckinglutely retarded? there arent mexican cigarette peddlers. and if you think violent crime is going to erupt over tobacco, hahaha, then your fucking stupid. legalizing bud will effectively ELIMINATE the drug cartels. nnot too sure bout them coke and meth heads tho.

@KripDrip
Ya some people smuggle cigs and sell them without tax but its not like you buy them from a street dealer. I'm sure that even if smuggled weed would be cheaper people would still buy it legally just like most people buy cigarettes legally.

cigarettes are legal and the drug dealers make almost as much money smuggling cigarettes! Theres a huge black market for cigarettes. Legalizing marijuana wont do a thing to the drug cartels!

@almostskater3210 its ahobby, untill you go out and vote, untill your active in spreading a message, untill you actually decide im gonna do something, im doing whatever it takes to spread awareness and messages about issues, activism, debate, lobbying, writing relentlessly to state legislature this and that, take alook into that when you get older if it seems like soemthing youd get invovled with, any issue is important, unless it sucks, im not lobbying for cats right or anything,

I'm 15. I can't do shit, and I wouldn't anyways because legalization supporters get a bad rep. and I'm very busy lately and I am also not that into it. Like you, debating is just a hobby. There are people lobbying for this anyways.

@almostskater3210 hmm i mightve, on occasion, engaged in first person gathering of data of a little sticky myself, of course for the purposes of objectivity in this disscusion that information has yet to be substantiated by anyone else, well, who knows, almostskater? why the indecisiveness? maybe if you guys cleaned up your image, lobbied, , proactivly engaged the public in the positives of it, hell they just did away with dont ask dont tell, anythings possible

@crazyassblinddude
I don't personally know why(A couple guesses would be fear and lobbying by tobacco, alcohol companies) I think you would agree weed is completely nontoxic (less toxic than water) does not cause lung cancer and has many medical values. That is still illegal also And I'm sorry but heroin is completely non toxic pure. People die because it is cut with stuff because it is illegal. (Again im not condoning it) Sorry that I did not put sources but they would not fit in the comments.
