BNSF Empty Coal Train heading north from Kansas City into Saint Joseph MO. at Control Point "French".

Just as it approached me, my scanner picked up the Defect Detector. The double track through Saint Joseph is about 8 miles long, and as this train was heading north, 5 trains met it heading south - one straight after the other. I've never seen so much traffic in such a short space of time.

I love the sound of these when they're empty, it's almost hypnotic.

  • No and no.

I live in New Zealand and was visiting St Jo for a military airlift course at the Airport. Last time I was there was in 2004.
