This is what a UK-based NGO has revealed; Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss gives April 2009 deadline to government hospitals to switch to auto-disable syringes.Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss had proposed auto-disable injections in 2004, but even after four years, many hospitals in our country have been found reusing disposable injections, according to SafePoint, a UK-based NGO.

  • @terminatehere It is up to you to stop the problem. If you do nothing, you are an accomplice. Really, 200 pack boxes can be bought for $20 to $60 from companies like BD. Then they need sharps containers, alcohol swabs, proper refrigeration & monitoring, and training. Anything less is unacceptable.

  • I have seen rabies injections been given in Bangalore using the same needle in government hospitals. Damn criminals.

  • i have just finished my Internship in a Government hospital...A single Disposable syringe is used 5-8 Times...The Government Supplies just 50 Syringes for a ward of 20-25 patients for the period of 1 Week !!!
