  • The air traffic controllers have not received the recognition they deserve; much like the plane's Captain, they were far above excellent. Especially considering the witch hunt going on with the FAA over controllers they deserve more recognition.

  • I give props to the pilot for his act. Think about it, if you were a pilot responsible for few hundred people and your plane engines busted, I would be nervous as hell. Again, props to the pilot

  • It never ceases to amaze me how composed the controller and pilots are. I know pilots are trained for these emergencies, but I would've expected even a little tinge of fear in Sully's (or the co-pilot's) voice. But they remained as calm as ever

  • In Russia, jets land on water all time...

  • Did anyone catch the ATC calling him 1529?

  • The pilot sounds like overlord from Call Of Duty, so calm in the midst of chaos. But still this guy is a fucking legend.

  • It took a seperate boat just for the Captain's balls.

  • It's all in the training. I crash-landed a fast private airplane at Leeds/Bradford International (LBIA) with about 50 hours solo on my log-book. LBIA has serious wind problems sitting as it does atop a hill. Wind-shear got me, but I made it thanks to the training (and many a bollocking) I received from Alec Webster and John Fenton from Yorkshire Aero Club. After the incident, the Club and LBIA were relieved to learn no damage to the aircraft had been sustained!! Oh, by the way, I was OK too...

  • the pilot is really a world class

  • "were gonna be in the hudson"

  • @jonnbag06

ya they did... after 4 months, which contains drying and so far. a nice servie from the airline.. google: "luggage hudson river" for more information.

I think that fact that the pilot had experience instructing other pilots for exactly this kind of emergency had a lot more to do with it than God. If it had been a regular pilot the outcome would have most likely been a lot more tragic. If you want to bring God into it ask why he put the Geese in the plane's fight path in the first place.

No denying it was great calm under pressure, itself the result of over 19000 hours piloting and instructing experience.
