Farrukh Khan Pitafi (journalist) on TV One program "National Interest" - TV One - Apr 26, 2009
Concise summary of Swat, including background of Sufi Muhammed.
Points out the obvious which people have been saying all these years - that foreign funding of organizations (funding of NGOs are another example) will INEVITABLY lead to pockets of "special interests" that may NOT be aligned with the interests of Pakistan.
On a related note:
Letting foreign funding into our educational institutions (whether it be Saudi OR the recent attempt by U.S. interests/NGOs) is WORSE.
Even if these efforts seem to be "succeeding" (the NGOs facilitating this will always say they are), they reduce the LEGITIMACY and authority of the educational system.
It might be a surprise to many indians but for the last few years india has been funding some groups in Baluchistan.
This aspect is known quite commonly - although inthe pak media this is not mentioned as much - only recently.
And there is some support of some groups in the "Tehreek-e-Taliban" (which is a group that is different from the Afghan Taliban).
May hurt the feelings of indian "we are clean" but there is a certain truth to some of these statements.
