It was probaly because you were starting out for sample games. In an actual tournament or more competitive game you need to adhere to fantasy version of the "force orginization chart". Which is fairly lenient (min not max for cores) but has strict hero and lord rules.

well i bought a vampire counts battalion and i got konrad von carstein and i know the people at my local games workshop and he said i could still use my lord even though i don't have 2k so ya

Lords are for 2k or more, heroes can still be used in 2k or more though

You've done a good job at explaining the basics of fantasy, fair play.
Although, it is impossible to cover all of the rules in a manner and ordering that people will be able to clearly follow and understand without a rule book of their own, but you have made a good job of it!
