That is true for the soldiers.

What I mean is that I think Thomas Harris' biggest fault was not writing the series chronologically. There are some glaring plot holes in Hannibal Rising.

That's not to say that it's a bad book or movie. As it's own entity, it's a very exciting story with a great revenge plot! It's just difficult for me to accept it as a Hannibal Lecter installation.

Here's the thing about this movie: I think the cast did what they could with what they were given.

Gaspard is actaully very close to what I imagined Hannibal looking like when I was reading the books. Physically, that is.

It just bothered me that they took the part in SOTL when he says, "Nothing happened to me, Officer Starling. I happened. You can't reduce me to a set of influences" and voids it completely.

All in all, I've seen worse and I've seen better. It's a good popcorn movie.

gaspard is so gorgeous. and i think that he played out this role very well. he got his revenge and thats why he enjoyed to kill all those men. and as was said before he becomes more sophisticated as he gets older and doesnt show emotion because there is no motive behind killing the other people. although hopkins does seem to enjoy eating the brains straight out of the mans head in Hannibal. hes toying with claireece the entire time.

he also was just starting out at young age. after doing it for so long he probably didn't enjoy them as much as his revenge killings

thats because he was enjoying his revenge. after that his killings were just his way getting rid of people that got in his way
