This video led me to discover Miss McDonald, who is awesome. The first version I heard was by Blossom Dearie. I saw today that Jane Monheit has added it to her reportoire.
But let us never forget that this great moody ballad is yet more evidence of the genius of Rogers and Hammerstein. State Fair does little for me, except for this overpowering song...
