  • That little car sure needs a lot of work!

Like Alex said, you should restore it, even though it won't be perfect. I'd love to see another PV544 back on the roads, even though your in Sweden!

  • Of course it will be restored... But with a little custom work ;)

I started with a complete wreck so it takes some time... Also, PV544s are still relatively common here so it doesn't matter very much if there's one more or less in original condition... I saved this car from the junkyard in the last minute so I feel like I can do whatever I want without second thoughts... It will be nice when finished, trust me. However, I have some work to do on my daily driver (W123) that's more important now.

  • Fantastic!

Of course it'll take some time, it's not like it's a 10 minute model car!

So you have a Benz too?

Those are nice old cars, around here, you mostly see the 300TD Estates, but if you look closely you might see the occasional 240D and 280E. What kind of work needs to be done?

  • It is a 1985 230E, regular 4 door Sedan, 3 owners before me and 165 000 kilometers on the clock... Feels very tight mechanically! But the swedish climate can be hard to cars, so it had some rust (mostly surface, but had to do some welding in the rear fenders) that I've fixed, so right now it is in the paintshop, waiting for a respray in its original color 735 Astralsilber. The merc is so nice that it will stay original, will just have original alloys and the extra chrome bits from the 280 model.

  • you should really restore that thing

  • I will. However, not to original condition... It was in VERY bad shape when I started with it, so I don't think that the modifications I've done did hurt very much... I like original cars too, but there's better examples if one wants to build a 100% original 544. I didn't exactly make a worse car out of it with mods like modern suspension, newer engine and rack & pininon steering with collapsible steering column. But I like those vehicles very much, original or modified...

  • Nice job! Good luck with the rest of the car!

  • Very nice!

Well cars here can get really bad too,

That's cool, it seems you know quite a lot about auto repair.
