  • Because the role of Cherubino is write for soprano! (Sorry for the bad english!!!!)

  • ... or indeed a mezzosoprano :)

  • I love this scene...If they were included in this performance- can you post basilios and marcellinas arias

  • Basilio's aria I already have posted. The name of the video is: "È Barbarina - In quegl'anni (Le nozze di Figaro)".

Marcellina's aria I have never posted, because, sadly, Klara Takacs has not sung it in this production.

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again: Almaviva is my of my favourite characters ever! Just hilarious!

And this cast is perfect! Shall we call it THE Cast?

  • Wonderful interpretation of this great trio--kudos to all involved (singers, orchestra, and of course Mozart). Benelli sounds so slimy here! And Allen has the mien and carriage of an aristocrat. He's a great Count.

  • He's not trying to be sexist, he's merely pointing out the fact that in the play, Cherubino is male, while here, he is played by a female actor

  • The only sad thing is that the recitativo afterwards is missing. It's short, but it's really hilarious! I love the way Cherubino says: "I did my very best NOT to hear anything!"

  • why is cherubino played by a woman?

  • Ha! I love this terzetto!

  • long live mozart

  • He could be even angrier than this! I've got a 1955 version of the Nozze, directed by Kleiber. Alfred Poell is Almaviva. I can only hear him, not see him, but the hardly repressed anger is absolutely undeniable when he sings "Onestissima signora! Or capisco come va!"
