It goes without saying that if any of these cameras become outdated (because their successor has since be released) it's probably not a bad idea to check out the newest version of each camera listed. Again, these are just recommendations based on what I've personally used, or researched. As you can see, I'm also very partial to Canon, Panasonic and Sony - which for my money, produce the best video equipment available. But visit some of the above linked websites, NewEgg, B&H, and Amazon - coupled with any info from DPreview.com - and make your own conclusions and decisions.

Good hunting!

Flip was easy to upload to youtube. the software made it simple for those of us who aren't so technology oriented. is there another brand that has the software for easy upload to YT?

    Yes; literally all of them.

Uploading to YouTube is the easiest thing online... you just drag and drop. You don't need any software for that... it'll only complicate things.

Hey jon, I am just curious as to what the point of a professional video camera is because Dslrs usually have better image quality. I know that I am missing something because there has to be a reason that people buy them.

Yes, of course. For one, they don't necessarily have better image quality and two -- they're video cameras, with way more features, options, settings, and physical layout.

what do you mean they dont have great video quality? Im using a sanyo hd 1000 which is good but It has that grainy image look sometimes. but People that have used the cannon have clear images. does it depend on the editing software that you use?

No, it depends on the chip-size, lenses, lighting conditions, ISO/aperture settings, etc etc.

And I didn't say they didn't have great quality, I said, " they don't necessarily have better image quality". Big difference there. Don't misquote me, especially not when it's right in front of you.

The Samsung camera isn't as good as others, and isn't worth the price as a camera, but it is a nice device and I like how you can just upload directly to sites.

I want to get the HMC-150 because fuck it I love filming and I don't care how much it is, I just want the highest quality I can get even if it requires spending an unnecessarily large amount of money. I'll probably buy it after I get out of basic training (if I decide to go).

So I'm making a short film to enter in a few festivals and I desperately need a new camera. Two of them have caught my eye and I'm unsure of which one to get. Not looking at the prices, should I get the Canon EOS Rebel T3i or Panasonic DMC-FZ150?
