Amberian Dawn - River Of Tuoni

Amberian Dawn is a new Finnish metal band. Their music combines melodic, dramatic and powerful metal with female classical vocals.

All members of Amberian Dawn have quite a long history as musicians, and played in many different bands. Tuomas Seppälä (keyboards), Heikki Saari (drums), Peter James Goodman (vocals) and Tommi Kuri (bass) played in a band called Virtuocity. As Virtuocity disbanded, they started working on songs composed by Tuomas. He started playing guitar, which he mastered as well as playing keyboards. Sampo Seppälä (guitar) and Tom Sagar (keyboards) joined to establish Atheme One. Soon, Heikki Saari moved to a band called Norther, being replaced by another young and crazy drummer, Joonas Pykälä-Aho (Thaurorod, Lathspell).

It was in the summer of 2006 that Tuomas and Tommi decided to start looking for a female classical singer. Tuomas had composed dozens of great songs that were not suitable for the voice of Atheme One's vocalist, Peter James Goodman. Something had to be done, as they didn't want to waste such great songs. And so the hunt began.

After a few weeks of searching, almost at the same time, they found the same ad - a classical soprano, Heidi Parviainen (Iconofear). They listened to her sample and decided to organize a demo session. Heidi turned out to be a perfect match - not only can she sing, but also write intriguing lyrics.

fter a while, Sampo Seppälä (guitar) decided to leave the band for personal reasons. He was replaced by the powerful guitarist Kasperi Heikkilä (Guardians of mankind, Merging Flare, Iconofear), and the band grew even stronger. Amberian Dawn started to practice hard and arrange the songs for Heidi. Their first studio session was in fall 2006, where the band recorded two songs at Rockstar Productions studio, in Hyvinkää, Finland. Here you can listen to their first two songs, "River of Tuoni" and "Evil Inside Me". The full lenght album be available in early 2008.

@deepsilentcomplete I think Heidi is the best soprano out there. Excuse me, but that's my oppinion!

And you don't have to compare every soprano with Tarja, she is not the scale of perfection.

I like it, the female vocals aren't too overpowering which unfortunately is happening a lot w/ symphonic metal these days
