iPhone 4 Reception Issue Replicated on iPhone 3GS Running iOS 4

@metalhaze iPhone 4's "genius" antenna design is suffering from using human hand acting as a stub where it changes the length of the antenna to detect the correct frequency. It's a hardware issue but not sure if software is able to compensate the human hand acting as a stub effect. Apple has designed a flawed phone. I also experience Bluetooth voice being muffled reglardless of the bluetooth headset. The headset works perfectly on any other phones except iPhone 4.

You could buy some 5 bar signal stickers they are now selling iphonecase com/iphone-signal-fix-stickers
-5-bar-singal Just put them on your screen where you have 1-2 bars to get a full 5 bars of signal again if you dont have the firmware always 5 bars signal fix. -
I just did it to my 3GS by holding it the same way people are holding the iPhone 4
-
Your right. I was going to post a video also. I held the bottom of the phone on my 3gs and my bars dropped from a full 5 to zero so I guess it's just not the new iphone.

i have the same result on 3.1.3 so i dont know

it's a iOS 4 issue not antenna DO NOT UPGRADE

@bucko06 he can, "I have the HTC Hero. So I thought I would give this a try with the Hero and sure eneough I can get two to three bars to drop."

@metalhaze Fair enough ..It is causing a bridge between the two antennas and detuning them, this is not what is happening with the 3G and 3GS
You are blocking the signal, this happens on most phones.
This is not the same problem as the iphone4 , the antennas are on the outside and are being shorted.

@quakermaas While I agree the issue is much more prevalent on the iPhone 4, I would just like to mention that you aren't "shorting" anything. You are just degrading signal strength. Shorting something deals with electrical currents, not cell signals. If you shorted it, there would be severe damage to the phone.

yeah happens on my 3gs now too, but only on 3g network not if im just on edge

@Norwaynumber1 I tried turning on Edge and doing it that way as well. It still did it but the results weren't as drastic and I could only get it down to two bars instead of one.
