@blidderbla Well if it isn't broken don't fix it right? The US Cobra helicopter is from that time too right? And still in use today.. In fact a lot of weapons from that time are still in use.
Theres nothing more manouverable then this little "knutschkugel" fully forged Rotorhead.... and a true Loop possible and standard and no tipping of at the zenit of a loop. At the time of appearence this little f*** kicked ass.. and it still does... its a nitty gritty little girl with 6 fists full of fun (HOTs) though its being replaced by the Eurocopter Tiger
Afaik its still one of the main ground troops support and anti-tank helicopter in the German Air Force (Luftwaffe), replacement by the EC665 takes its time...
However, it is still one of the most agile and reliable helicopters in the world, so I wouldn't say it's embarrassing.
Btw, it had went on market 1970 (only had its first flight in '67).
@DobermansRock@DobermansRock I'd be surprised if anything could run rings or even close around the Bolkow, if anything the Lynx might be more manoeuvrable but the MD500? No chance

mid 1960, a bit embarrasing to say that we still use them in Sweden.

Sorry I think I have to differ with you on that. The MD 500 and its newer variants can run circles around this bird.
Also the new Blackhawks I am building would suprise the masses.
