Changed the motor to a 1000 watt Phoenix Racer / Crystalite 5303 and a 65 amp, 18 FET Infineon controller. Got the speed up to 15.5 MPH. On another run it went over 16 MPH. Also changed the tires and rims to 4 1/4" Schwinn Stingray Chopper tires from Choppersus.com.

  • What is the circuit design for using a capacitor, do you use any resistors?

  • Try ultracapacitor around 1F. Just to save the energy between the pulses of brushless motor. I tried it and made a big difference in performance of the brushless motor and still w/o batteries

  • I have run it with batteries. With this much PV and the stop and go nature of this event, the batteries stayed at nearly 100% charge. I just like the simplicity, and challenge, of going no batteries.

  • It seems like such a waste of solar panels to not have batteries. Every second that you are not driving, your solar panels are not being utilized. You could hold onto that extra free energy and use it later, at night or during a sandstorm. Or use it to go faster.

  • I need to get in contact with you since I am doing a similar project. Check your inbox.
